The Fabulous and Mystical Isle of CAPRI!

Oh. My. Goodness.

This is one of my favorite places EVER! I mean just lookit!

The views, the food, the water and sky...the shopping...;) it was all incredible. I wished we had more than one day! Didn't I wish that about everywhere we went? But really. I could have spent such a long time here. Even though there were so many people everywhere, somehow it still seemed quiet and peaceful. Something about sheer cliffs and blue water just gets me.

We rented a Vespa and explored the island. We found this little swimming spot and just jumped in with our clothes on, because it was so wicked hot (AND we had been at Pompeii earlier in the day, but really, who wants to see pictures of a bunch of old ruins anyway? haha) Jason told Wesley that I jumped off that rock platform and he could hardly believe I was so brave. Note to self...let kids get to know me better!

Ahhh, ROME!

So, while in Florence we thought to ourselves, why waste two hours each way getting from the port to Florence, then back to port, then to Rome the next day, when you could skip the boat and go straight two hours to Rome and spend the night? So that's exactly what we did!

I LOVED Rome. This was really our best night of the whole trip. We wandered around through the ruins, had an amazing dinner right by the Trevi Fountain...the next day Jason was not feeling well so we made do with a bus tour around the city. So amazing. I really want to go back and spend more time. There is so much history and everything is just so beautiful! I want this apartment.

Florence, ITALY!

Welcome to Florence! It was HOT, HOT, HOT in Florence but we walked about a thousand miles anyway. With a gelato stop of course.

So many gorgeous buildings and of course flowers everywhere, and the FOOD! Why do I take pictures of food everywhere we go? haha We went to the Bargello museum and saw Michaelangelo's original works. Amazing. Crossed the Ponte Vecchio and mainly just explored. I wish I had a couple more days there to learn more about what I was seeing.

Nice and Eze, continued

From Villefranche we took the bus to Nice and then to the village of Eze. In Nice we found one of those little shopping areas that are all tiny narrow little alleyways. It was SO FUN! A little old chainsmoking Frenchman made me a great espresso.

Then on to the village of Eze, it's situated up on a cliff and it's like a little walled in fortress all to itself. I felt like I was in a fairy tale town. It started POURING rain as soon as we got there which added to the mystique. We darted through the rain from doorway to doorway but we still got soaked.

Villefranche, Nice and Eze, France

This was a whirlwind day because we saw three adorable towns in one day. I would love to spend at least a day or two in each one. The port town is Villefranche. Lots of gorgeous scenery here.

Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona was our first stop and one of my favorite places. The variety of thousand-year-old and ultra-modern architecture is just amazing and there is art in the most unusual places. I could never get tired of just looking at the buildings and the streets and the little terraces.

This is a close up view of the Sagrada Familia, the church that was Gaudi's life work and is still under construction after 150 years. They say it will be done in 2026...haha

It's an amazing structure and photos just don't do it justice. It's really breathtaking in person. Pickpockets galore though! The lady right next to me was pickpocketed right as I was taking pictures. Bummer of a way to start a vacation.

This is a house designed by Gaudi. I like how the terraces sort of look like skulls.

This outdoor market had the most amazing goodies in it. Why didn't I get more!

Annnnd, a stop for some tapas and una cerveza grande.
